My best friend and I will send each other emails with links to random stuff we think the other will find interesting. She always does an amazing job of finding some of the coolest stuff on the internet and about a month ago sent me the link to this post about Jalani Morgan‘s portrait work. I’m so glad she did because his work is so captivating. Morgan does such a great job of producing work that engages with the viewer and really pulls you into what he’s shooting, what he’s trying to say.
One of my favourite things about his work is how flexible and diverse he is. He shoots in both black and white and colour. He shoots both digitally and on film. He’s focused on his personal projects while also involved in other projects. He works with other artists and you really get that community feel as you scroll through his blog. There’s a special kind of warmth that comes through in photographs where the photographed and the photographer have that connection and, as a viewer, it adds something special to the viewing of the photographs.
Things I’m Loving:
+ You Should Have Known – (This book sounds really interesting!)
+ Affordable Art – (For those of you who might be looking.)
+ Backgrounds for photography – (Something for me to keep in mind!)
+ Travel Momento Boxes – (This is so cool and something I’d love to put together.)
