The Last Six Months…

Radek

These aren’t part of my #The100DaysProject, but I realized that they give a pretty good summary of what I’ve been up to lately. (Of course, by ‘lately’ I do mean ‘the last six months that I haven’t been blogging’. Whoops!) My roommate adopted a cat about three weeks after I moved in and while we’ve had to childproof half the cupboards, he’s the apple of our eyes and one handsome, spoiled feline.  Continue reading

Spicy Vegetable Ramen

IMG_9877

I’ve been craving ramen noodles for ages now. It was out of the blue, just hit me that, “Yes! Ramen noodles! Make it happen!” Which I did. Then I hit up some of those million posts that are floating out there about how to amp up your lunch if you’re one of us who stay at home. From there I just did my own thing, dug around the fridge for things I could stick in it and improvised with what I had. Improvising is fun! There’s something about finding an unexpected combination and taste tasting something you’ve thrown together that makes you go, “Wow!” that’s just really fun for me. Also about using up food already in your refrigerator. Yes, good, bonus!  Continue reading

Sweet Strawberries

IMG_9906

I don’t know where all this food photography is coming from, guys. On one hand I feel as if I should apologize because I’m either making you hungry or else making you confused. Potentially a combination of both hungry and confused and there is almost nothing worse than that. (I had a math class just before lunch, so that specific combination of feelings is very well known to me.) But! What I’m doing these days is eating food in the sun, sunning myself as if I was a cat or else cursing at my computer screen because of course too much sun means it gets all glare-y and impossible to look at.  Ugh, how dare it do that while I’m trying to mix work and pleasure? (Because yes, eating sugar covered strawberries is a pleasure, of course it is!)  And if you’re not lucky enough to be quite out of that winter wonderland that is apparently still kicking around, know I’m wishing warm weather your way.

Things I’m Loving:

+ How to know you’re Canadian – (ALL OF THESE. All of them.)
+ Food in Spain – (I am so here for the croquettes. My favourite.)
+ Steam in the Willows – (A remake of the classic story. So well done!)
+ Sweet & Salmon – (My favourite fish with an awesome recipe!)

Brie & Tuna Sandwiches

IMG_9814

I’m kind of a big tuna fan. Tuna sandwiches. Tuna melts. Tuna in salad with cherry tomatoes and some dill. Heck, my mom even does this thing where she’ll toss in a can (or two, we’re a lot in my family) of tuna with Kraft Dinner and some vegetables and while, at least as much as I can remember, my sisters detest that dish, I’m a fan of it. And if you just made a face at that, don’t knock it til you try it because it just might surprise you. To sum up: I like tuna. And I made a tuna sandwich. With brie. This is all sorts of fancy here, guys. Continue reading

Sunset Boulevard

IMG_9736

Over the weekend I ended up with an evening where everyone I knew was already busy and I didn’t want to spend the evening at the house. Which was when I realized that some of my photography equipment had started to gather dust and remembered someone telling me that the Temple of Debod is really nice to photograph at sunset. Which also sounds kind of touristy  and whatnot, but I figured it’d be nice to have some alone time with my camera and so packed my bag and headed out and enjoyed the sunset. Just me, my camera and a ridiculous amount of couples with their tongues’ down each other’s throats as they took selfies for their new profile pictures.  Continue reading
