Good Things

Good Things

Hear: Music cranked high in cars driving by
Taste: Coca-Cola with lemon while sitting on restaurant terraces
Touch: Leather bags hanging side by side
See: The Spanish countryside as I drove by to Granada.
Smell: BBQs burning late in the evening

Things I’m Loving:

I’d love to hang this on my wall – (Though all their products are great.)
Behind the scenes – (So handsome.)
This summery postcard – (If you’re feeling like mailing something.)
Anatomy of a blog post – (Interesting to see how another blogger sets up her posts.))

Europe: The Reaction .GIF Edition (Part II)

So it’s been a long, long, long time since I last did a reaction .gif post. Which is sad considering that a.) I have a lot of things to put in such a list and b.) it’s my most popular post by like, a lot. But, better late than never, right? Some of them are definitely more specific to Spain, but that really shouldn’t be a surprise! So without further ado: have some judging!Gosling to kick it all off.

The first time you realize how serious Spanish businesses are about being closed between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.:

20 Things About Me

20facts

Just to do something a little different, I figured why not share 20 things you might not know about me.  Just for kicks.

  1. The first language I spoke was French. My sister and I helped my dad learn the language.
  2. I was 16 the first time I stepped on a plane.
  3. I have a pretty good memory of things that happened when I was younger. Which my sisters call my ‘memories from the womb’.
  4. (knock on wood) I’ve never broken a bone.
  5. I watch and read Atonement at least once a year.
  6. While I’ve gotten better at being more outgoing over the last few years, I’m very much an introvert.
  7. By the time all my siblings grow up, I will be the shortest in my family. (The math genes also passed me by.)
  8. You know my parents are amazing because I was allowed to paint on my walls while in high school.
  9. Creme broulee and cheesecake are my go-to desserts. Every. single. time.
  10. I actually like winter. (Up until it sticks around for 8 months, but the first 6 I’m pretty cool with.)
  11. The end of Lord of the Rings: Return of the King had me sobbing like a baby.
  12. My idea of a great evening is eating snacks and playing board games.
  13. For someone who grew up in the middle of Canada and far away from anything resembling a large body of water, being by the ocean makes me insanely happy.
  14. Camping is one of my favourite things to do during the summer.
  15. My writing changes from sentence to sentence and over the space of a page looks like four or five people were writing.
  16. I prefer travelling by car, bus or train to flying. I like getting to see out the window at what I’m passing by.
  17. Receiving mail instantly makes my week better.
  18. I marathon TV shows like a boss.
  19. My favourite meal of the week is Sunday Brunch.
  20. I love paper things: cards, magazines, notebooks, books, etc. It’s a thing.

Just a Little Messy

IMG_0009

For someone who’s s really into all things neat, tidy and organized, I’m also very fond of messy and chaotic. Specifically when I’m ‘making’ something. When I was in high school and spent hours painting, I’d have paint scattered around me, brushes, magazines, containers of water, all of it just spreading out around my room. When I pack, I have this (potentially bad?) habit  of pulling everything out, dumping it on my bed and then trying to figure out how it all fits into my bag. (Here’s a good example (or two) from when I left France last July.) The same goes for when I’m cooking. I grab everything I need and then proceed to make a big, unholy mess as I’m cutting and peeling and grating. And I love it.
