Just What the Doctor Ordered

I can’t believe I’m an entire week behind on photos. I finally, finally sat down today and edited everything that I’ve had sitting in a folder for the past couple of days. These are from after I left Chartres last Sunday and before I came to Belz on Wednesday.

Flowery wallpaper and rooms with gorgeous light. A ten minute walk from the ocean at night. A bike ride that ended almost as soon as it started because flat tires are a problem. These are all ingredients for relaxing. Combine with good food and sleeping in, add a healthy dose of reading a funny book and you’ll be feeling better in no time.

Things I’m Loving:

+ This advice – (I am a sucker for travel photography, ok?)

+ This song – (There’s a yogurt commercial with this song. It’s in my head.)

+ This magazine – (Every time they come out with a new issue, I want to get my hands on it!)

+ This website – (Because clicking little hearts next to clothes is almost the same as buying them. Except it’s cheaper and you don’t actually own them.)

Nice things: your team winning, that person you’ve been waiting a week to hear from calling you back, being told you don’t have to come in for another two hours on a Saturday so you can update your blog and do that laundry that’s been sitting there for awhile, roasting marshmallows on the one night during the week that’s not raining.

Up until this last week, we’ve had a solid two-three weeks of grey skies and rainy days and the boys night of roasting marshmallows kept getting put off. I’m not a huge marshmallow person (unless there’s chocolate and graham crackers involved), but the boys loved sliding them onto the roasting sticks and then peeling the hot, slightly (or really) burnt sticky goo off and eating it before it fell to the ground.

Now with the weather finally feeling summer-y and school done next week, it means one thing: more campfires. And there’s normally a bag or two of marshmallows kicking around our house.

Things I’m Loving:

+ Outdoor Light Interventions – Photos about anonymous group Luzinterruptus and their bright, artistic way of highlighting some of Madrid’s problems. They’ve been using temporary installations since 2008 to make people aware of social and environmental issues since 2008.

+ “Love Is Won” by Lia Ices – First heard on an episode of HBO’s Girls and hauntingly beautiful, the music video matches with gorgeous, fuzzy shots from Italy.

+ Hello, World – I saw this when the Sartorialist posted about it on his blog last week and am in love with the photos and videos that he and Garance Doré have created together. In the first five people they’ve covered, they have two from Hong Kong, one from Tokyo, one from Berlin and one from Madrid. I love the range in age, style, occupation. (I also really love these shoes. Scratch that: the whole outfit.)

+ Carissa Gallo – I’m pretty sure I’ve posted about my love for Kinfolk before. But to reiterate: I. Love. Kinfolk. (I actually did try to get an internship with them, but they didn’t have enough work to cover all the hours I needed, sadly.) Anyways: she’s a photographer who’s been there since the first issue and  her photography is beautiful. Simple and the lighting is just…she just really gets it right. Her husband does video and together they have a blog.
