Indoor Weather

IMG_9960

Remember when I shared those pictures of the great weather we were having? Apparently mother nature heard I was bragging and put a damper on that. (Literally.) We’ve gone from hot and sunny to cold and windy. Not that that’s really stopped my friends and I from heading out and about. Hanna and I headed out and we finally made it to Atocha, with it’s indoor forest and turtles. Obviously forests and turtles make any grey, rainy day much better.  Continue reading

This Here Be Picnic Weather

IMG_9722

I don’t know about you guys, but my first instinct when nice weather shows up is to be outside as much as humanely possible. Which means I’ve gotten pretty good at grabbing food from the fridge, throwing something together and heading to the park for a picnic at the last minute. That’s my favourite thing about picnics, really: how uncomplicated they are. Seriously, this is not a thing you can mess up. Is it food? Is it still edible? The Liebster Award

liebsterblogaward-300x300

I’m honoured and very touched to have been nominated for the Liebster Award by Shani from She Dreams in Perfect French.  The general gist of the Liebster Award is to acknowledge the hard work of bloggers who don’t have a huge blog following.  (The Liebster link I posted takes you to a post explaining how rules/numbers have changed over time. At one point it was 3k, then 1k and now some people are saying 200 followers. I’m going to go with 1k for my nominations.)  Continue reading

One of the first things I ever learned in Spanish was how to order my coffee. “Café con leche, por favor.” I’d often have to repeat it since I’d say it so quietly the first time around and the r’s on my ‘por favor’ would get stuck in my throat as I tried to roll them out just right. (I figured that would be the least of my issues, rolling r’s. Except French r’s purr and Spanish ones roll and as much as you might not think there’s a difference, there is.)  Continue reading

Hanging Jamón & Tiny Service Stations

IMG_9506

Last week Alex gamely came along with me to look for an address on a cheque (that we never found) and was his cheerful self as we continued to lose and find ourselves in the business district. We stopped for lunch at Museo del Jamón, where I had croquettas for the first time in a long time. Since it was such a nice, sunny day out, we decided to walk most of the way back down to Conde de Casal before we had to catch the bus back.  Continue reading
