These were taken two weeks ago, the last Sunday I was home before I left. Not to be overly dramatic, but it will be the last time my whole family goes to the lake together for quite awhile.
I flew out yesterday morning at 6:10 am and headed for a twelve hour layover in Toronto, where I met up with some friends from school I hadn’t seen since we all handed in our final projects back in March.
And now I’m updating from Frankfurt airport where I’m waiting for my third and, thankfully, SO THANKFULLY, last plane, Paris bound. (Though the drive is an extra hour and a half to two hours to my new place, which my sister kindly reminded me as I was complaining about the fact that I just really wanted a shower. That was over ten hours ago. Yuck.)
But it hasn’t been horrible. I mean, what could really possibly be horrible about flying to Paris? I feel like the correct answer here is: nothing. Though I am quite excited for that shower, and a bed to sleep in rather than that really awkward slumped over napping thing I did from Toronto – Frankfurt. I woke up in time for both dinner and breakfast and slept the rest of the time. Priorities: I have them.
So here I go: one last flight, a new country, a new job, a (not really) new language. Don’t worry: I’ll show it all off.
Things I’m Loving:
+ Fever Pitch by Nick Hornby – It was quoted often in Soccernomics and the quotes used made me go, “Yes! That’s how I feel!” so I knew I was going to have to get my hands on a copy. Found it on sale in Toronto in The World’s Biggest Bookstore and couldn’t resist picking it up. I’m a third of the way through and yes: it was more than worth those sale dollars.
+ Free Airport Wifi – By that I mean: I miss it. For some reason, Frankfurt does not have free wifi and so I am sitting here, slowly watching the hour I paid for tick down. It’s kind of stressful. Though interesting to see how much you can cram into one hour. Answer: quite a lot.
+ Banana Shampoo – For a dollar a bottle at the Fields in town, you can buy a range of Mellow shampoos. My sister’s and my favourite is the banana scented one. I didn’t bring a whole bottle with me, but I did squeeze it into one of my carry on sized travel containers.
