Football: The Reaction .GIF Edition

Honesty time: I actually had this one put together before I did my World Cup .gif post, but figured I’d wait until the football season started up again to post.  (That feeling of having a post waiting in queue for months at a time is weird you guys.) But! Since the season has started up again, here we are!

Whenever someone starts talking about how their club is, ‘the people’s club’:

Football: The Reaction .GIF World Cup Edition (Pt I)

Since we’ve made it half-way through the World Cup, I couldn’t resist putting together a .gif post about it. Since this is the World Cup that keeps on giving and has been a refreshingly surprising one at that. This is a bit of everything that’s happened in the last two weeks and I’m planning on doing one at the end for the final two weeks and the guaranteed madness that will need to be summed up.

First day of World Cup:

793c3c1eb2b211e3bdc312eabe09d68e_8

This is my 300th blog post, you guys! Holy crap that is a lot of blog posts over the last three years and three months. (So many threes!) I’m also thisclose (six more!) to getting 300 followers and while I know it’s obviously not the biggest accomplishment on the internet, it still means something to me.

To celebrate, I’m going to round up a bunch of different things that this blog and I have been and done and seen, different numbers and ‘fun facts’. And here’s to whatever comes next! Continue reading

Madrid, Spain

This is a Love Post

I was sitting at an outdoor table at Starbucks in Plaza de Callao when I looked up from my book at the diamond shaped Metro sign hanging above the stairs  a couple of meters in front of me. It was a Sunday evening, the first real fall day that actually required a sweater (or a winter jacket, if you’re Spanish), people were leaning against the rails around the metro opening, walking through the plaza with bags on their arms, cellphones to their ears, headphones clamped tight, sweaters pulled over fingers. The tables around me were filled with people talking in their rapid Spanish way, hands dancing in front of them, cigarettes dangling between fingers, bags on their laps and half filled cups in front of them. That’s when it hit me, in a ‘I’m now really awake and when did that happen?” kind of way: I live in Madrid. I live in Madrid.

RL Tidbits

Whenever a female says she’s a fan of a male actor/athlete/person in general and the first question to be asked is, ‘Is it because he’s good looking?” :

Misc. - TV Shows - tired of your bs

RB - Gail - your bs hurts me

RM - Cris - DNWThe amount of feels I have on this subject are a great many because why does it matter? Why? Is my opinion on said person then validated if you happen to think it’s because I think they’re attractive? As if that would explain why I would be interested in a movie/sport/whatever other thing it may happen to be? Because you know what, maybe I do find them attractive. But that has absolutely no factor on whether or not I can appreciate things like, oh, I don’t know, talent, skill and hard work.  Not to mention, there is no way I would keep up with a sport just because I think a player or two are attractive. Do you know how much work that requires?

What annoys me even more than that is when it’s directed at younger girls. So she likes One Direction. Don’t immediately make it about whether it’s because she thinks the group members are cute. Make it because she likes the music. Not only are females more than our looks, we also happen to be deeper than other people’s looks as well, thanks.
