Some good things during my trip snagged from my Instagram. It’s a pretty good way to summarize my trip: food, ocean, palm trees. It’s a long weekend here in Madrid,  with the festival of San Isidro starting yesterday, and there’s supposed to be some great stuff going on over the next few days! I’ll definitely be taking my camera out with me. (Not that that’s a surprise.) I hope you all have a lovely weekend wherever you are!

Goodbye, Barcelona

goodbye

These are the bits & bobs, the tidbits (Timbits?), the leftovers of photos from Barcelona. All the sides of buildings, graffiti, nicely lined bikes, street art, pretty tile, food, people, you know, those things I can’t resist taking a picture of but didn’t really go together with anything. So they’re here. In one big post of corners of Barcelona that I saw and liked and will hopefully get to see again.

Of Old Bullfights & Dr. Seuss

IMG_0407

Alex arrived in Barcelona Tuesday evening and we spent the next few days exploring the city together. Wednesday we took the metro the Palau Nacional/Estadi Olímpic de Montjuïc  area. First we headed up to the top of Las Arenas, which is a bullring that’s been converted into a shopping centre with restaurants on top with an ah-ma-zing view of the city. (Also where I managed to trip over the protective wire at least half a dozen times while trying to…walk. I’d love to say ‘taking pictures’ but I wasn’t. I was just walking and the view distracted me. #klutzproblems)

Fancy Houses & Unfinished Cathedrals

IMG_0317

Paris has the Eiffel Tower. Berlin has the Berlin Wall. London has Big Ben and the London Eye. Barcelona has the still unfinished Sagrada Familia. Because good things take time, right? Before heading over to the Sagrada Familia, however, I first made my way to the Casas Amatller and Batlló. I didn’t go in, mostly because a.) waiting in lines are actually my least favourite way to spend a day and those lines were stupid long and b.) that stuff seriously adds up. Super fast.  Another time, I would definitely love to head on in and I’ll just have to make sure to make my way back.  Continue reading

La Boqueria

IMG_0174

As most of you who’ve been here for awhile already know: I love food.  In a Timone and Pumbaa, “Love. Not like, love,” kind of way. Which meant that La Boqueria was a must see for me.  Which I did.  At least three times. Can you blame me though? Most of my favourite things all under one, very nicely decorated roof: food. People to photograph. Cute boys with tattoos. Food. Does life really get much better than that?
